Very good video exposing the myths of protein and advising people properly. I learned from this so thank you!

pavy415 December 27, 2011 at 8:16 pm

You forgot proto shrug hydro whey and sweet dairy whey

Poontangclannn December 27, 2011 at 8:25 pm

I noticed all of your videos you are talking but not really saying anything. For example you say that people don’t need a lot of protein. What does that mean. A lot to me is 300 grams, yea I don’t need that. I usually have one gram per pound of body weight. Other people may think that 50 grams of protein is a lot or 80 grams. It’s not really enough. And just to put it into perspective I take in about 120 Fat, 185 Protein , 600 Carbs a day

@calico992 Ah, another anti-animal product idiot. Are you here to boast vegetarianism, and complain about the slaughter of animals? Because the last time I checked, whey protein is alkaline. Don’t generalize milk products and milk bi-products just because of your pathetic bias opinions (yes they are opinions because “you didn’t do your research buddy”).

Apidium December 27, 2011 at 8:31 pm

I’m no expert but all healthy foods have some form of protein in them, so why drink protein shakes? pointless in my opinion.

calico992 December 27, 2011 at 8:37 pm

I am completely opposed to Whey and Casein protein. The problem is, a lot of body builders look at benefits directly in terms of mass building potential, amino acid profile, and strength. The problem is, Whey and Casein are EXTREMELY ACIDIC. Any substance which acidifys your blood is essentially poisoning youstealing oxygen. Why lift weights if your gonna get sick and ruin your colon, blood, stomach and bones. Do the research. Alkaline vs. Acid. Vegan Bodybuilding is the future.

@IrishCaucasian 1. Do not eat raw eggs. 2. A normal diet offers more than enough protein.

fIRsTRATmAN December 27, 2011 at 8:50 pm

Hi Steve, great channel, love your vids. Can you please tell me if its safe to make my own protein shake using raw egg whites? everyone keeps telling me its not safe but i used to do them alot when i was a kid and got great results.

@BodyPerformanceTV Thanks for all the advice and you are correct that even being a vegitarian and just taking in one shake at 25g of protein I am lifeting heavier than I ever have. Because I push myself in the lifts.

IrishCaucasian December 27, 2011 at 11:07 pm

@BodyPerformanceTV Thanks again great vids

BodyPerformanceTV December 27, 2011 at 11:34 pm

@IrishCaucasian You don’t need that much protein. Your diet plus one shake a day is enough!

IrishCaucasian December 28, 2011 at 12:30 am

Hi Steve great vids common sense always speaks to me. I am a vegetarian and need protein. I was told for every pound a person weighs they need to take in the equivalent in grams. I am 180lbs so I need to take in 180 grams of protein for example if training of course.

The thing is I can not drink so many shakes a day and in reality I only cover the the daily requirement which 65grams.
any advice?

sol1deogloria December 28, 2011 at 12:50 am

@creepingmoon slows down the uptake post workout but adding fats as a replacement meal is not a problem preferably omega 3 rich…

letrasherfou December 28, 2011 at 1:27 am

the easier mixing effect is also related with the lecithin that the blend contains, am I right?
and by the way, most of protein powder on market contain soy lecithin, which is Genetically modified soy…
what’s your opinion about that Steve?

ImCollinMonroe December 28, 2011 at 1:57 am

Does it have any side effects for some reason when ever I take whey protein I get irritated and get angry easily after I take it and it lasts a couple of days

p00pm4n3000 December 28, 2011 at 2:26 am

@RugbyScrummie technically you don’t need whey protein in the form of supplements as long as you are eating right and getting that protein from other food sources. but there is nothing wrong with supplements, just do not rely on them for your nutrition.

RugbyScrummie December 28, 2011 at 3:05 am

im 16 and im 5’9 and 140 i want to build muscle i work out 4 times a week having days focus on legs , abs and arms, shoulders, back and tricepts. do i need whey protein ? also i dont want to put on fat im pretty new at fitness so some advice would be great.

LiqwidTech December 28, 2011 at 4:38 am

i take mine with piss…much cheaper

DubStepEdition December 28, 2011 at 5:11 am

can you take it with vodka?

XfireBf2Skatetopia December 28, 2011 at 5:39 am

I thought milk slows down the absorbtion rate and think about it, milk has casein and casein is used in commercial binders so if it was in your stomach it clots up thats why it absorbs slower

papajohn5656 December 28, 2011 at 6:28 am

unsweetened almond milk is a good compromise – low calorie (60cal), low carb (1g), tastes largely like milk

kesihua2 December 28, 2011 at 6:53 am

my favourite subscription by far.

Iknowyoujelly December 28, 2011 at 7:46 am

I take mine with a cup of concrete.

1SuperD1 December 28, 2011 at 8:09 am

Zer0cropped December 28, 2011 at 8:12 am

@SynXCraft AND UNLIKE EGGS you can actually get absorb that cholesterol into your system and IF TOO MUCH your bad cholesterol will go up. Not good!

SynXCraft December 28, 2011 at 8:58 am

@carreraGT92 If u check on the back of the product it has a very high Cholestrol take in

carreraGT92 December 28, 2011 at 9:07 am

I’m not trying to hate on the vid, but i’ve been taking ON whey protein for a year and my cholesterol is 6 (normal level should be 5), and i’m only 20 yrs old. Just wondering if anyone else has experienced a rise in their cholesterol whilst on whey

MightyMitchx December 28, 2011 at 9:39 am

lol at the end, he had to look away, laughing. :D

MightyMitchx December 28, 2011 at 10:36 am

So you should have a shake about 30mins before your work out and then another one straight after?

ltLunatic91 December 28, 2011 at 11:16 am

man you guys are FUNNY

MrSkippydoodle December 28, 2011 at 11:50 am

when i was leaning i took a whole serving of a triple blend of whey, casein, and soy proteins with skim milk. now that im bulking im taking a whole serving of whey plus a half serving of the triple blend with water. i still get all 3 proteins but i get much more whey, and i get less calories with more protein and less carbs.

ShaxAMV December 28, 2011 at 1:11 pm

@thankennedy did you mean informal or informative? ‘cos they’re both lol.

ediot6969 December 28, 2011 at 1:50 pm

I’d say if u are perfect example of ectomorph then go ahead and have some whole milk with the protein shake.

TheFckngpole December 28, 2011 at 2:12 pm

I take with cream cause I want to be bigger faster

DCkillin December 28, 2011 at 2:32 pm

@Moodyz3 No no no. Too many ppl get this wrong. Milk has lactose. Lactose is not broken up by the body easily so absorption rate is slowed down if you mix your protein with milk. You have about a 30 minute window where your body is most anabolic and if you take milk, not only is there lactose in there, the protein thats in milk is casein! Casein of course being the slowest digesting protein you can have. Milk does NOT spike insulin. Right after your workout – Water + Protein. Milk any other time
